Mozart Cocktail ❤️ Salzburg (Traditional & Thermomix)

Once a year I leave for a weekend alone to visit a Christmas market. I love Munich, Salzburg and Vienna, but I confess that between these last three the one in Salzburg is the most magical. Surrounded by mountains, often with snow and in a setting like in a fairy tale.

Photo taken from the website of Salzburg.

Beautifully decorated Christmas trees on all big places! Small stalls selling adorable Christmas decorations, gifts for any budget, warm clothes made of wool, felt, loden, and of course the food and drink stalls!

And then that’s where I had the revelation! A perfect cocktail for Christmas, for winter, for Salzburg and for everyone who enjoys this season. Warm, rich and just gloriously decadent.

The Mozarttrunk which is drunk hot with a Mozart ball placed above the steaming warmth to soften slowly, and then melt in the mouth once the drink is finished .

This beautiful drink obviously has its little effect. I will never understand why after 20 years after having drunk one of these admittedly large glasses I suddenly decided to ice skate  on the rink next to this stand in the middle of Mozart Square

A Mozartkugel, is a small, round sugar confection made of pistachio marzipan and nougat that is covered with dark chocolate. It was originally known as Mozart-Bonbon, created in 1890 by Salzburg confectioner Paul Fürst and named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. (Wikipedia)

Recipe Mozarttrunk for 2

  • 80 g Amaretto
  • 80 g Baileys
  • 2 Mozartkugel – austrian Mozart balls
  • 2 toothpicks

Gently heat equal parts of Amaretto and Baileys in a saucepan or Thermomix (10 min / 75 C / lowest speed). Do not boil it.

Pour the cocktail into glasses, place a Mozart ball on top with the help of a toothpick and serve immediately.

The perfect drink between girlfriends !! It warms body and heart .
